On Thursday (July 9), Lorde performed at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid and spoke up against smart glasses.

“Increasingly in our world it gets harder and harder to know what is real,” the pop star said onstage. “You don’t know if someone is wearing sunglasses or if they’re wearing those fucked up fucking… Can I just say, for the record, ‘Fuck the Glasses.’ Don’t get the glasses. Not sexy.”

Watching the world turn against the creepy Meta glasses fills me with joy. They are a distopian tool from an evil company that people should not accept as something we just need to put up with. If someone wants to use something to record in a private space for a few minutes, go for it. Wearing them all the time with the ability to record everywhere with little friction breaks all kinds of societal norms.
