I have not shared my setup for a long time, so figured I would do one of these now. It used to be a regular thing for me back in the days of Windows Phone (RIP).

Currently my device has 3 screens of apps and widgets. In the dock I have the three defaults of phone, messages, and safari. The fourth spot goes to Spotify as that is my most used app on the phone. I also have a fitness focus mode setup that is just one screen of widgets.

My current hardware is an iPhone 13 mini. Anytime I hold a bigger phone I never want to let this little bugger go. That being said the time is coming in the next few weeks where I will finally have to give it up as the age is keeping me away from some features. I will enjoy having the pro camera again.

Screen 1

I have the Apple productivity apps up top that I use constantly. I have tried so many third party mail, reminders, notes, and calendar apps and have settled on the built in defaults They not only are “good enough”, I truly think Reminders and Notes are best in class. I then have the built in files app which I use a lot to view files across iCloud and Google Drive. Next to Files I have Raindrop.io which is my bookmarking app of choice. I save all my bookmarks (favorites) on this service so no matter what browser I use I have access to all of them. The rest is pretty self explanatory including Overcast which is my favorite podcast app.

I also have three widgets on the page one. I have the weather which I am always glancing at and then a stack of two widgets which includes my calendar and reminders due today. I really don’t look at the reminders one much since I can see them right on the calendar.

Screen 2

This page has a mix of apps I use a lot sort of put in areas by category. On top I have the Apple News widget which opens Apple News+ which I like as a service. Then I have Reeder which is my RSS reader of choice. I have been curating sites I subscribe to via RSS for years. My feeds are all hosted on Inoreader. Then I have Instapaper as my read later app along with quick access to sports news and scores with The Athletic and Apple Sports apps. Most of the rest are pretty self explanatory. The page ends with the Apple Books widget which is stacked on top of a Kindle widget. They give me quick access to whatever I am reading.

Screen 3

This page is broken into clearer sections. On top are some fitness apps I use most along with a Strava widget which shows total miles run this week. The Strava widget is stacked with the Apple Fitness widget where I can see my rings and the MyFitnessPal widget which tells me how many calories I have left for the day! In the next section I have some productivity stuff, and at the bottom I have my social media apps including Micro.blog where I can post to my website (like this). The other two widgets are the Apple Journal widget where I can quickly jot down a new entry and the Duolingo widget. That would be my favorite as seeing the streak is a constant reminder to do at least one lesson a day!
