Microsoft’s Timing Is a Marketing Nightmare

First came news that the final version of Windows 10 will launch in the fall of 2015 which had Paul Thurrott correctly tweet:

then came this….

So as we head into the big holiday sales push, Microsoft invites the press to show off a Windows 10 “Consumer Experience” right after the holiday ends.  Just the optics of this are awful.  It is fine to update the press, and more importantly users and developers, about what the next year will hold.  However, you don’t use software that is almost a year out to sell it.   I am sure Microsoft’s OEM “partners” love this invite going out.  Are we going to see “Windows 10 ready” stickers on our laptops soon? It worked well for Vista!
